Best Advice for Planning an Amalfi Coast Wedding: 3 Things to Consider

The Amalfi Coast in Italy is a particularly picturesque destination that has become increasingly popular for not just American couples, but couples from all over the world to plan their dream wedding. With its stunning landscapes, romantic atmosphere, and charming coastal towns, it’s no wonder that many couples are drawn to this enchanting location. However, before you start envisioning your dream wedding on the Amalfi Coast, there are a few important considerations to keep in mind. In this blog post, I will explore the top three things that I think you should consider as I just had my wedding in the Amalfi Coast last year.

  1. Guest Attendance: You Will Have a Small and Intimate Weddings

One of the first things to consider when planning a wedding on the Amalfi Coast is the size of your guest list. Let me backup for a second, first ask yourself (and your fiance) “Who are the most important people that we’d like to attend our wedding.” Do Grandma and Grandpa come to mind? What about your best friend with 3 little ones? I just want to be upfront about the reality of not only the cost, but the difficulty with getting to the Amalfi Coast. A guest  if they really wanted to, could swing into Rome or Milan for a quick 48 hour trip to attend a wedding. Now if said wedding was on the Amalfi Coast, then the 48 hour trip to attend a wedding would merely be impossible.

So keep in mind that while larger weddings can certainly be accommodated, it’s important to note that the logistics, price and availability of accommodations may be easier to manage with a smaller guest count. The Amalfi Coast is known for its narrow and winding roads, which can make transportation challenging, especially during the high tourist season. Additionally, finding suitable accommodations for a larger group might be more difficult and expensive, (check out this blog post for a accommodation recommendation) Therefore, if you’re planning an intimate wedding with a smaller guest list, you can avoid many of these logistical challenges and ensure a more enjoyable experience for both you and your guests.

Now that I gave you two important items to consider when it comes to guest count and logistics; remember that your wedding is about YOU and your FIANCE. If you want to have your wedding in the Amalfi Coast even if your great aunt and uncle can’t make it along with your cousin and her 3 children, then do it! They’ll get over it, trust me. You can always host a small brunch when you return from your stunning Italian Weddin

2. Managing Crowds and Accommodations:

Trust me when I say this, the Amalfi Coast is a highly sought-after tourist destination, particularly during the summer months. While the region’s popularity is well-deserved, it’s essential to be prepared for the potential crowds that can come with it. And I don’t take this lightly, everything is crowded from Napoli to Salerno. During the peak season, the coastal towns can become quite crowded, which may affect your wedding experience. I would advise you to plan your wedding no later than later than early June and no earlier than September 1st. The weather is more pleasant and there will be thinner crowds. This will not only provide a more serene atmosphere but also increase the chances of finding suitable accommodations for you and your guests at reasonable prices. Booking accommodations well in advance is crucial to secure the best options that suit your needs and budget.

3. Budgeting for the Amalfi Coast:

It’s no secret that planning a wedding is becoming more and more expensive. Did you hear that a bride is no longer speaking to her father because he wouldn’t shell out $200,000 for her wedding? What planet are we living on? I call that delulu, but hey! If my dad had $200,000 laying around for my wedding, I would have gladly accepted! Anyhow, hosting your special day on the Amalfi Coast can further add to the costs. Keep in mind that guests are making a very long journey to be there, so in my opinion I would plan/budget/host at least two events. The region’s reputation as a chic and luxurious destination means that prices for venues, services, and vendors may be higher compared to the mainland. It’s important to carefully consider and set a realistic budget for your Amalfi Coast wedding, taking into account the higher costs associated with the location. Prioritize the elements that are most important to you and allocate your budget accordingly. I get into what I would recommend spending your wedding budget on and what you should skip here.

Planning a wedding on the Amalfi Coast can be a dream come true for many couples, including myself obviously! . The stunning backdrop, romantic ambiance, and rich cultural heritage make it an idyllic location to exchange vows. However, it’s crucial to consider the practical aspects of organizing a wedding in the Amalfi Coast. From considering the size of your guest list to managing crowds and accommodations, and factoring in the higher costs associated with the Amalfi Coast, these considerations will help you plan a memorable and stress-free wedding day. By carefully thinking through these aspects and working with local professionals, you’ll be well on your way to creating a truly magical and memorable experience of a lifetime.
