The Perfect Wedding Florals – Pinterest vs. Reality

In an earlier blog post, I discussed the importance of sourcing the perfect local wedding planner. I’ll be honest with you, when I was planning my wedding, I needed a reality check when it came to florals and my wedding planner did just that! Look, the fact of the matter is most brides spend hours scrolling on Instagram and Pinterest looking for dreamy florals. But did you know that many things you see online are “styled” photo shoots and aren’t necessarily actual weddings? So when I approached my wedding planner with my dream floral design, she set me straight; my budget did not match the florals that I had in mind.

The top floral trends for 2024 are; dahlias, garden roses, lilies, peonies, tulips, orchids, bougainvillea, and ranunculus. I personally think that you can follow a trend and still have your wedding day reflect your unique personality and style. From the choice of venue to the smallest details, every element should come together to create an ambiance that truly shows your own style. As you know, one key aspect of wedding decor that sets the tone for the entire event is the selection of centerpieces. They can add a touch of elegance and charm, and when procured wisely, they will withhold the test of time while not looking like a trend from decades in the past.

“Love is the flower you’ve got to let grow.”

In this blog post, we will explore four distinct categories of centerpieces: romantic, whimsical, earthy, and classic. We will also touch upon the importance of budgeting and finding a wedding planner who can help you achieve your floral dreams while staying within your financial means.

Romantic Centerpieces: Capturing the Essence of Love

For the bride seeking a romantic ambiance, centerpieces should exude elegance, softness, and timeless beauty. Think of lush blooms in with bright hues, delicate candlelight, and cascading greenery. Roses, peonies, and bougainvillea perfect choices for creating a romantic atmosphere. Opt for tall, graceful vases adorned with trailing ribbons with a pop of color to add some liveliness to the color pallet . This color pallet will transport you and your guests into a romantic fairytale set.

Whimsical Centerpieces: Letting Your Imagination Run Wild

If you have a playful and imaginative personality, whimsical centerpieces are the perfect choice for you. Embrace vibrant colors, unexpected elements, and unconventional arrangements. Consider incorporating unique elements such as feathers, crystals, or even small figurines that represent your shared interests or hobbies. Experiment with unconventional vessels like teacups, birdcages, or vintage trunks. Whimsical centerpieces will add a touch of magic and joy to your special day, and also show your free-spirit nature

Earthy Centerpieces: Embracing Nature’s Beauty

For the nature-loving bride, earthy centerpieces create a harmonious connection between the beauty of the outdoors and the ambiance of your wedding venue. Utilize natural elements such as moss, branches, succulents, or wildflowers. Incorporate wooden accents, such as tree slices or rustic crates, to add a touch of organic charm. Earthy centerpieces bring a sense of tranquility and simplicity to your wedding, reflecting your appreciation for the natural world. I highly recommend this type of aesthetic for any ceremony held outside or reception that is outside in nature.

Classic Centerpieces: Timeless Elegance and Sophistication

For the bride who appreciates timeless elegance and sophistication, classic centerpieces are the epitome of refined beauty. Stick to a neutral color palette with white, cream, or blush tones. Utilize traditional flowers like lilies, orchids, and calla lilies. Opt for tall, crystal-clear vases or silver candelabras to create a luxurious atmosphere. Classic centerpieces exude grace and poise, matching your timeless style and ensuring a wedding that will stand the test of time
